Lesson 3 · Vercel
The factory: Deployments, Ready, Production
You open: Vercel → connorclaire-next → Deployments
Vercel is the factory and the host. GitHub tells it there is new code. It builds. If the build succeeds, that copy can become what the world sees. If it fails, the old copy stays in the window.
Every production deployment is a dated mold of the site. Visitors do not receive the files on your laptop. They receive the mold Vercel last promoted to Production.
Preview deployments exist too — unique URLs for other branches. This course cares about Production. That is connorclaire.ca.
The Deployments tab is the screen that answers “did your change go live?” Green / Ready plus Production is what the world sees. Error means the world is still on the previous Ready deployment. That is a feature.
Practice
On the mock board, promote a successful build and watch Production move. Trigger a failed build and confirm the live slot does not move. Then open the real Deployments tab and find Production.

Takeaway. Failed builds never replace the live site. Ready + Production = what visitors get. Cloudflare is not involved in a rebuild.
